Srikanth, Jayaram move up in BWF rankings

NEW DELHI: Despite losing in the opening round of the Malaysia Open Super Series Premier, Indian shuttlers K Srikanth and Ajay Jayaram moved up the ladder in the latest BWF World rankings released on Thursday.

Srikanth improved a place to reach the 13th spot, while Jayaram surged three places to the 21st position but Swiss Open winner H S Prannoy slipped a place to 23rd.

Commonwealth Games champion P Kashyap, who skipped the Malaysia Open because of injury, slipped two places to be at the 20th spot. Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu, meanwhile, maintained their positions at World No. eight and World No. 10, respectively in the women’s singles ranking.

Indian men’s doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy sunk a place to at 20th position, while Commonwealth Games silver medallist women’s doubles duo of Jwala of Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa remained at 15th spot.
